first things first: thank you so much for creating (or considering creating) for me.

i’ve included some thoughts and prompts for canons, characters, ships, and tropes—but please don’t feel bound to those ideas. they are included only as possible starting points and entirely optional. in general, i will enjoy any gift (so long as it doesn’t include things on my Do Not Want list). so please don't stress and i hope you have fun!

chain/zapp

chain and zapp have such a fun dynamic. i like how they have never-ending energy to annoy each other but (very deep) under all the insults and arguments, they respect and care about each other. relatedly, i love how physical they are with each other. it almost feels intimate in how routine and constant it is. even if it is most often violent. (they touch so often???)

as a pairing, i like that both chain and zapp are a little rough around the edges in different ways. i think they would simultaneously spur each other on into being worse and better. i would love to see stories explore how they get together or how being together looks for them. i'm sure their relationship would have to be unique and, uh, noisy.

i love these three together for all the same reasons i love chain/zapp (see above) plus the juicy side of chain's longterm, unexpressed crush on steven.

i would love any exploration of how these three fit together, whether their time together overlaps completely or only in part. i could see steven joining in a pre-established pair of zapp/chain very easily. or all three falling into a relationship more or less at the same time.

elden ring

d/rogier

the entire world of elden ring is so good. i love how d and rogier have a whole history that extends much earlier than the moment you enter the game. they already cycled from friendship to mutual bitterness (tinged with nostalgia). i am so intrigued by the conflict between them, because it is so essential to their personalities and worldviews. they both believe strong: d in the golden order, rogier in learning and trying to repair what is broken. and these differences suffuse how they approach the world. d is deadly serious and distrustful of the world that has so often wrong him (and his brother), while rogier obscures his thoughtfulness/worry/wisdom with that charming "easy air."

i would love anything that explores these differences—or the places where they actually agree or are aligned. they were once very close, so surely those things still exist, even if they've taken a backburner to the dispute. i would also love to see stories that emphasize their individual strengths or weaknesses. d has been ostracized for so long but was so willing to remove his closest friend from his life—what does that say about him? and rogier is so hellbent on not being perceived seriously—why does he need such a mask?

gungrave

brandon/bunji

if you're gungrave-curious or are trying to refresh on the basics, i have a "why you should watch gungrave" post and a short primer that i use for exchanges/requests.

i love how quiet brandon is but how deeply he feels emotions. he experiences so much turmoil over his conflicting loyalties to big daddy/millennion vs harry. and the amount he struggled with harry's betrayal only comes out after brandon's death. i think brandon's loyalty is reflected in (and perhaps even the origin of) bunji's loyalty. bunji, who begins as a mercenary, joins millennion solely because of how impressed he is by harry and brandon. he keeps to brandon's morals and ideology for so long—and then he shatters when brandon seemingly defects (e.g. how his unit would wait to kill a target until their family was gone because that's what brandon wanted vs. bunji choosing to massacre the whole family with the target after brandon's apparent betrayal).

this is purely my personal interpretation but i like to believe that bunji knew on some level that brandon would never betray millennion, but he convinced himself of harry's story because brandon was already dead and bunji felt like he only had harry and millenion left. so bunji doubled down on telling himself that brandon was a traitor only to end up in a cycle of hatred aimed at brandon as well as himself.

as a pairing, i feel like it is easy to interpret bunji's clear respect for brandon as having a sexual and/or romantic component. i can see them in anything from a fully requited relationship to something that is more one-sided. if you want to go with one-sided/unrequited, i love the concept of brandon being very wrapped up in maria and/or harry but still having sex or a relationship with bunji anyway.

alucard/anderson

in many ways, anderson is a great foil to alucard. despite similarities (both are the premier powers of their respective organization, both are primarily used as vampire hunters, both work for religious organizations, etc), they are completely incompatible. but i love how they forge a strange respect for each other. alucard clearly thinks highly of anderson (calling him a beloved nemesis, likening him to the few men he thought might kill him, and trying to talk him out of the needle). i think alucard provides a much-needed challenge to anderson (in battle as well as to his ideologies).

as a pairing, i would love anything that leans into their differences as well as their similarities. i want anderson to have to acknowledge that alucard is everything he detests (an inhuman monster without a conscience and working for the protestants to boot) and that he still wants/respects him. as for alucard, he's a creature with ages of experience, so i think at first he doesn't see anderson as more than a blip in history, but i would love to know more about how and when he starts to develop respect for him. i want to see him put anderson under a metaphorical microscope because he's fascinated by what responses he can elicit. he finds anderson entertaining, a quality hard to come by for someone who has seen nearly everything.

optional prompts:

• something goes haywire with anderson's regeneration abilities (i.e. they spontaneously stop working, iscariot sabotages him to 'retire' him, etc), and the only place he can think of to go is hellsing/alucard.


• any setup in which anderson offers alucard his blood. anderson feels many conflicted catholic feelings about it. or conversely, any setup in which alucard takes anderson's blood without it being offered.


• alucard is captured by iscariot. anderson, much to his own surprise, does not agree with iscariot's methods.

alucard/walter

walter is fascinating to me. the audience is simultaneously given so much and so little about his history. even after watching both shows and reading the manga, he remains a mystery. i would love any story that unravels that mystery a little. for example, on the surface level, we can assume that walter wanted integra to wake alucard (hence his disappearance for that evening). but that begs the question of why.

walter seems to imply that he wants to best alucard in battle. is it to test and prove his own strength? or is it because he really thinks alucard is a monster that should be put down? if it's the latter, i find it compelling that walter is often the one to speak of alucard in the most unvarnished terms. he acts fond of him but also reminds integra that alucard is a monster unburdened by conscience. or maybe walter want to fight alucard for other reasons. there's another conversation in which walter says he feels sorry for the vampires, because he sees them as waiting for a death that will forever elude them. so is he trying to do alucard a favor by releasing him? or is it some mixture of motivations, distorted by time and obsession?

as a pairing, i love the fact that they have one of the longest standing acquaintanceships. walter has known alucard for much of his own life (discounting the period that alucard is locked in the basement). i would love missing scenes from when walter was young or new scenarios after walter's betrayal is unmasked.

himeko/welt

i adore how they are so open with their fondness, respect, and trust of each other. and they are both sort of nerds at heart. welt with his mecha show/art and himeko with her coffee/engineering. they've also known each other longer than most of our main cast and regard each other as peers, while they seem to look at the newer editions to the train as younger folks to be guided.

so with that all being said—i want anything where himeko and welt get to show off their various competencies to each other, enjoy each other's company, and find new ways to deepen their relationship.

(if you've played or read honkai impact 3rd, please feel free to bring in details from that universe. and don't worry if you haven't! i love himeko and welt in the purely honkai: star rail 'verse, too!)

jinx

heesung/jaekyung

i found this relationship incredibly intriguing and wish that it had been explored more in canon. heesung and jaekyung have entirely opposing approaches to love. heesung puts his whole heart into it, but his affection never lasts long and he leaves broken hearts in his wake. we see him do his best to seduce dan by showering him with attention, gifts, etc. meanwhile, jaekyung is entirely devoted to ignoring his heart. he seeks out only physical relationships in which he has the clear upper hand. and yet, they seem (relatively?) friendly with each other despite a clear air of competition.

together, i am okay with any type of relationship they might have. maybe they had a better relationship in the past. maybe they have a hostile friends-with-benefits situation. maybe they like and understand each other more than they want to admit.

heesung/jaekyung/dan

i am so obsessed with this story. and there's so many possibilities to explore the story and the characters. kim dan is so soft and considerate and jaekyung is...not. i love how jaekyung sweeps into his life, demands everything and uses kim dan's vulnerabilities against him. but kim dan is so good, so sweet that he manages to look past every instance of jaekyung's toxic behavior and like him anyway. no matter how jaekyung treats him. (there are so many scenes that are gut punches—that birthday scene in particular devasted me.)

and then there's the complication of heesung. every section where he is overly familiar with jaekyung pleased me. they both get under each other's skin, but it seems like heesung often manages the upper hand (at least on the day-to-day level). plus, the part where he was earnestly love-bombing dan, even after he became aware that jaekyung was probably already dating him or interested in him... amazing. i wish this had been explored more in the canon, although i can understand why he gave up after jaekyung so thoroughly had a meltdown.

for all three in a relationship, i tend to prefer a v-shaped formation in which dan is the emotional center, even if all three are involved sexually. i would love to see jaekyung and heesung grudgingly come to respect each other (and each other's position in dan's life) even as they compete for dan's affection. i'd also love variations where they have to learn to get along better for dan's sake.

hamin/sehyuk

for this ship, one of the defining scenes for me was when sehyuk pins hamin to the bed, seemingly without a care for his feelings or wellbeing, and the reason he stops seems to be because he's surprised that he still harbors feelings for hamin from childhood. it's almost like he forgot, or didn't believe, that he could still have those emotions—even though he joined the mafia to be closer to hamin in the first place. as for hamin, i love that he's so against the very idea of everything his father and the mafia stand for. he's driven by ideals and occasionally naive about them—but he's also got a tough side: he's willing to fight when someone is being unjust or crosses him, he's fiercely protective of those he cares about, and he is quite determined when he sets his mind to something.

• sehyuk does his best to actually court hamin. in his own way. maybe he takes the advice of others, maybe his courtship looks like a cat proudly bringing a dead rat to its owner. or maybe he devotes himself to learning what hamin would like and appreciate.


• despite all hamin’s efforts, he succeeds his father as head of the family/mafia business—and sehyuk makes sure hamin is successful as his right-hand man. give me sehyuk being a vicious and loyal dog as hamin grows into his role as master.


• role reversals of any kind. hamin has to save sehyuk; hamin is the sexual aggressor; sehyuk surprised by hamin's capacity for violence; etc.

nu:carnival

kuya/rei

this pairing really came onto my radar with the rusted nation update. i love that both rei and kuya are from huey's OG crew, but that has done nothing to make them closer. at a glance, one might expect them to get along better. they both are more interested in their own pursuits than the goals of the grand sorcerer (especially in comparison with most of the clan). and they both guard their hearts so carefully. but perhaps all of that makes their bickering all the more delicious.

as a pairing, i would love either explorations of their past with huey or their present with eiden. i am intrigued by the fact that rei was so unhappy with his place in huey's clan, while kuya seems to have genuinely bought into huey's authority. i would love to see how they contrast against each other—and in what ways they might be more alike than they want to admit.

kuya/huey

huey is still such an enigma in the game. we only have hints about what his relationship with his clan looked like (and how different it is from eiden's soft and sexy approach). at several points, kuya seems to imply he respect huey because of his strength and power. also, we saw in rusted nation that kuya himself is quite capable of casual cruelty and harm. i am so curious how kuya went from serving the yokai to someone who seems devoted to huey. and i'm curious how huey convinced him to do so. i also wonder what their daily life looked like. how often was huey actually around? was the relationship one of business or was there mutual fondness on both sides?

as a pairing, i like to see both how huey and kuya can work together but also how they might highlight each other's character flaws. they are both powerful men—and neither seems particularly predisposed to compassion. i could easily see kuya fascinated by huey, because huey is a font of new experiences (and kuya is, of course, a curious creature even when he doesn't want to admit it).
